Pipeline resistance. To transport slurry via pipelines, a certain pressure is required. The centrifugal dredge pump in the dredger generates this pressure, but as a result of the resistance in the pipeline, the velocity of the slurry will gradually decrease. If the velocity falls below the critical velocity, the pipeline is at risk of clogging.
Slaked Lime c D Figure 2 Lime Feed System With Rotary Cup Type Feeder Lime Slurry Feed Common problems of lime slurry feed systems in- clude clogging of metering pumps and valves, and encrustation of pH probes. It is important to locate the take-off point from the slurry line as close as possible to the point of lime slurry application.
Horizontal slurry pumps are applied in various slurry transport applications. With wear parts in either hard metal or rubber, horizontal slurry pumps are often larger, more powerful and offer higher capacity than vertical slurry pumps. Metso Outotec's range of horizontal pumps covers mill discharge pumps, general slurry pumps, and dredge pumps.

The pumps transport heavy mineral tailings through a 6-km-long pipeline. The new Wirth TM TPM slurry pump has a capacity of 620 m /h. Australia/New South Wales - Broken Hill Mine Since 1991, four WirthTM TPM pumps transport 100 m of dirty, unsettled, mine water every hour from a depth of 1065 metres to the surface in one stage.
Jul 12, 2013 Slurry rheology and tailings pumping design. Current trends with tailings pumping often require transportation along relatively long distance pipelines. Combined with the presence of a high solids concentration, the slurry will have a high viscosity and will have a significant effect on the discharge head required for pumping.
Jul 28, 2005 The drain line with an auto valve is normally located on the suction line between the suction KG valve and the pump. If the application is critical, e.g., the slurry can clog soon, or the solids are very heavy, large-sized and settle very quickly, very high percentage, or any settlement can cause trouble to the process, you can install a (or a ...
May 26, 2021 The humble slurry pump plays a vital role in the harsh mining landscape. Ensuring pump longevity has historically been a challenge, yet a failure can directly impact output and productivity. Thankfully, advanced technology now offers multiple solutions to help extend the active life of slurry pumps, from seals to lubricants, packing and right ...
Slurry Pumps: Slurry pump is a general term for a pump that handles an abrasive slurry. They may be considered an end suction pump, vertical column pump, or submersible pump. Pumps are constructed either of high nickel cast iron (white iron) to withstand the abrasive wear of slurries, or the pump is lined with rubber for more round-edged slurries.

Dec 28, 2020 The Bottom Line: Understanding What Makes Slurry Pumps Special . Choosing the right pump for your slurry transportation is crucial since it will have a significant impact on the device’s efficiency and effectiveness. Moving non-water and abrasive slurry can be extremely damaging to other pumping products, that’s why slurry pumps are ideal ...
Aug 11, 2021 pipeline, line of pipe equipped with pumps and valves and other control devices for moving liquids, gases, and slurries (fine particles suspended in liquid).Pipeline sizes vary from the 2-inch- (5-centimetre-) diameter lines used in oil-well gathering systems to lines 30 feet (9 metres) across in high-volume water and sewage networks.
The Warman pump: A trusted name in slurry pumps since 1938. Slurry transportation is at the heart of a mine site, so it’s crucial your pumping equipment is up to the task. Is your existing pump vibrating, cavitating or leaking? Does your pump shaft keep breaking? Maybe you’re …

Use heavy and heavy pumps to transport slurries containing particles between 500 and 2000 microns. Use heavy and heavy pumps to transport slurries containing particles between 500 and 2000 microns. Based on this division, the slurry pumps can transfer slurries containing particles from 2 to 8 mm, which do this using strong cylinders.
Slurry pumps Slurry pumps are a heavy and robust version of centrifugal pumps, capable of handling tough and abrasive duties. Slurry pumps should also be considered a generic term, to distinguish them from other centrifugal pumps mainly intended for clear liquids. Applications Slurry pumps are used to move mixtures of liquid and
Avoid settling of solids in slurry transport systems with flow velocities above certain levels. A suspension of solid particles in a liquid, as in a mixture of cement, clay, coal dust, manure, meat, etc. - with water is often called a slurry. In transport systems for slurries it's important to avoid settling of solids by keeping the fluid ...
Jul 24, 2006 With a slurry line there is a difference between the density of the slurry in and out of the line and the density of the slurry in the line itself. The hydraulic calculation needs to take into account this phenomenon. I suggest that you get a copy of Slurry Transport Using Centrifugal Pumps by Wilson, Addie and Clift.
Apr 12, 2010 hi guys. I need some basic information about a pump that will be able to transport a nickel slurry up around 1-2m high. the mass flow rate of the slurry is 27 kg/s with a density of 1218 kg/m^3. the temperature of the slurry is 25 deg c. What is the best type of pump to use in this...
