Jun 20, 2013 RE: Bulk density limestone stockpile. fattdad (Geotechnical) 21 Jun 13 10:34. the specific gravity of calcite is 2.71. If there were no voids in the broken rock the unit density of limestone would then be 169 pcf. If there are 30 percent voids (guess for broken rock), the dry density would then be 118 pcf. So, 120 is a resonable value.
2) Aggregate layer compaction; and 3) Loading. Specifically, a crushed limestone having low plasticity fines and compacted to 95% of the maximum laboratory density was identified as a best practice and can be used at thicknesses less than the current design recommendations. However, uncrushed gravel and reclaimed asphalt pavement performed poorly.
3.4. Water absorption and density of aggregates The water absorptions of limestone used in these specimens are between 0.15% and 0.59% and the water absorptions of sand are between 0.90% and 2.00%. Com-monly the Japanese limestone has a density between 2.60 g/cm 3and 2.70 g/cm
The relative density (specific gravity) of an aggregate is the ratio of its mass to the mass of an equal volume of water. Relative Density = Mass of the Aggregate / Mass of equal volume of water. Key Features: Most aggregates have a relative density between 2.4-2.9 with a corresponding particle (mass) density of 2400-2900 kg/m3 (150-181 lb/ft3).
Jan 23, 2020 The densities of rocks and minerals are normally expressed as specific gravity, which is the density of the rock relative to the density of water. This isn't as complex as you may think because water's density is 1 gram per cubic centimeter or 1 g/cm 3. Therefore, these numbers translate directly to g/cm 3, or tonnes per cubic meter (t/m 3).
The density of sand (fine aggregate) is ranging between 1450-2082 kg/m3 depending on different conditions like wet, dry, loose, dry-packed, and wet packed. What is Bulk Density of Aggregate? The Unit weight or bulk density of aggregate is the mass or weight of the aggregate required to fill a container of a specified unit volume.

So density of aggregate is not fix but it ranging between 1420 kg/m3 to 1680 kg/m3. Weight of aggregate in kilogram depends on density of aggregate and size of aggregate. Lesser dimension of aggregate have high density due to less presence of air voids & higher dimension of aggregate have lower density due to higher presence of air voids.

Sep 24, 2006 Re: Convert 21AA Limestone from tons to syds 21AA is a classification of limestone..... it denotes the size A dense graded base aggregate, produced by crushing, washing and screening high calcium or dolomitic limestone. A white to light gray colored sedimentary rock formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate from sea water.
Density of aggregate in kg/m3:- the approximate apparent density of the aggregate that is commonly used in normal-weight concrete work is between 1200-1750 kg/m3, but for estimating purpose it would be taken as 1500 kg/m3 by Builders and contractors. Bulk density = Mass / volume.
Jan 17, 2021 Density of Limestone in 285 units and reference information. Limestone weighs 2.711 gram per cubic centimeter or 2 711 kilogram per cubic meter, i.e. density of limestone is equal to 2 711 kg/m ; at 25.2 C (77.36 F or 298.35K) at standard atmospheric pressure. In Imperial or US customary measurement system, the density is equal to 169.2 pound per cubic foot [lb/ft ], or 1.567 ounce per ...
Aggregate gradation curves: (a) maximum density gradations for 37.5 and 4.75 mm sizes based on the Fuller relationship; (b) a uniform aggregate; (c) a gap-graded aggregate; (d) screenings.
Benefits. Limestone in 6mm, 10mm and 20mm grades for use a concreting aggregate and drainage. Limestone is widely used in building and construction across a variety of applications including readymix concrete, road construction and surfacing. We supply high quality materials across the UK.
Aggregate Various tests, including quality, freeze-thaw, and alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) are performed on aggregates used for road and bridge construction in Illinois. These tests quantify the physical characteristics of each aggregate product from each source.
Road Aggregate 101: Nominal maximum and/or minimum sized stone in mix The nominal size distribution of an aggregate specification is defined as the range of sieve openings through which 100% of the aggregate can pass. Road Aggregate 101: Gradation or distribution of different sized stones Open graded aggregate vs. well graded aggregate.

Jun 09, 2005 The (150-180) density data comes from a Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures book and appears to refer to the particle density of aggregate. However, since the aggregate is made up of particles, it is reasonable that the compacted density of the aggregate is between (150-180 lb/ft^3).
